The shooting of a year 1971 James Bond movie named ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ took place in this hotel. This hotel also featured in ‘The Grand’, a poker mockumentary of year 2008. Another instance of the hotel appearing in Hollywood movies is the one in ‘Next’, a year 2007 movie. In this film, Nicolas Cage was shown entering the hotel.

Under the ownership of Steve Wynn, the hotel earned its first four-diamond rating in the year 1977. This rating was earned after the opening of the first hotel tower. The second and third towers were opened in the years 1984 and 1989 respectively. In 2009, this hotel won the four diamond rating consecutively for the 32^nd time. Only 14 hotels in the US have earned this rating 32 years in a row or more, which naturally makes Golden Nugget one of the best hotels in Las Vegas. Attractions of the Golden Nugget Hotel

This hotel is well-known for ‘Hand of Faith’, the world’s largest golden nugget; this nugget is one of the main Las Vegas attractions. Kevin Hillier is credited with finding this nugget near Kingower, Victoria, Australia with the help of a metal detector. This nugget was discovered on 26^th September, 1980. This nugget weighs over 27.21 kg. The Kovac’s Gems & Minerals took up the task of selling this nugget. It was ultimately sold to the Golden Nugget hotel.

The renovation work changed the face of the hotel and incorporated many features in the new design. The new building is constructed in a manner that two aquariums lie at the center. The Rush Tower lobby houses the small aquarium. The larger aquarium on the other hand faces a swimming pool. The other has a tank which houses sharks. The design work is therefore, given the due importance. The renovation of this hotel was conducted three times i.e. in 1985, 2005-2007 and 2009.
